Colorful Math Classroom Design and Decor Ideas

Creating a math classroom that is colorful and inviting is a great way to welcome students at the beginning of the year! The design choices and decor can set the tone and make students feel comfortable. Math classroom decorations can reinforce the concepts we teach, as well as send positive messages about math! Today I’m sharing ways to bring color into your math classroom in meaningful ways.

The classroom decorations shown here really pop with bright colors. The decorations are more than pretty… they add meaning to the classroom.

Let’s take a look at each one and its purpose.

Math Bulletin Board Letters

This set includes all the letters of the alphabet along with numbers and symbols. Each one is covered in colorful school supplies. You can print the letters you need to spell anything you want… your name, the class you teach, or an inspirational message.

Table and Group Numbers

This set includes table group numbers and cards. You can label each of the groups in your classroom. Then use the cards to assign students a group. These are perfect for visibly random grouping because you can hand students a card as they enter the classroom.

Math Symbols Bulletin Board

Students learn so many math symbols and often forget what they all mean. With these large symbols on display, students can reference them and learn them throughout the year. The symbols make a meaningful bulletin board, or you can line them along your whiteboard. Lots of symbols are included from elementary, middle, and high school math to choose from.

Multiples or Skip Counting Posters

These colorful multiples posters can help students in all grade levels. Elementary students may use them for skip counting or to learn their times tables. Middle and high schoolers may need the reminder of their math facts and to help with factoring.

Colorful Vertical Number Line

A vertical number line is my number one recommendation in any math classroom. It is my most referenced tool! A number line helps students think about positive and negative values, compare numbers, estimate numbers, and operate. The vertical arrangement is more intuitive than horizontal. It relates to temperature and sea level easily.
